My Thanksgiving Hero Story.

My son, a Navy Corpsman about to be deployed to Afghanistan, flew home from Hawaii on 10/31/09. With him having to leave on 11/13/09 we had to celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas and his 11/22 birthday in less than two weeks. On 11/8/09 we celebrated "Thanksgiving" with the traditional meal, family and football. With the exception of the "date" it was by all intents and purposes "Thanksgiving" for us. My son, who loves dogs, had been after us for some time to get one since our family dog had died 7 years ago. On 11/10/09 we adopted a 3 1/2 month old puppy and named him "Sailor". My son actually delayed his flight back to Hawaii by one day so he could spend more time with the newest member of our family. Now that our son Tyler is in Afghanistan "Sailor" reminds us each and every day of what we have to thankful for and we all eagerly await his safe return.
