A team of Angels

Good Morning, I heard about your donation fo the bracelets to Fort Hood. Could we chat by phone to share ideas? It seems like we have similar missions - to offer comfort and hope. I look forward to speaking to you. My cell is below. Thanks. I sent this letter to Features Editor, Brian Bowers, of the military newspaper Stars and Stripes. Back in 1999, they launched the team of angels project by writing a feature story of my desire to send 5000 team of angels pins to the troops serving i...

My Thanksgiving Hero Story. SSGT Joshua M. Horton.

My favorite Thanksgiving memory with my hero would be our 2004 Thanksgiving. My son SSgt Joshua M. Horton, USMC, was deployed to Iraq in early September, 2004. He had been deployed in early May, but spent those first months in Camp Pendleton, CA, training for combat. He was part of F Company, 2/24, based out of Milwaukee, WI. This was a holiday season that we anticipated would be spent without Josh, as he was to be in Iraq til the spring of 2005. Josh was only in Iraq for six weeks, whe...

My Hero. My Father.

I recently ordered a hero bracelet because I remembered them from the Vietnam War when I was in high school. I was pleased to see that they were being made to honor and help our members of the armed forces. I recently lost my father, who was 91 and had served in World War II. It was with great pride in him and in our nation's troops, that I accepted the American flag at his funeral. My husband plans to make a box built with Dad's tools to keep the flag in. I received my bracelet today. It is...

My Thanksgiving Hero story... SGT Samuel K. Kelsey

I purchased a herobracelet for Sgt. Samuel K. Kelsey, from Troup, Texas, who died on 12-13-07 in Iraq. I saw a story on the internet about this brave young man. He was the only child of a single mom who died during his second tour in Iraq saving a fellow soldier. I bought and wear this bracelet to remind me to pray for his mother and our troops. As a mother of an Army soldier who recently discharged, my heart is so heavy for this Mom. To lose her only child....my heart just can't imagine...
